While this proposal is not perfect, it's way better than what we have now. There is absolutely no reason for the courts to cling to a tradition that serves nobody except West Publishing Company, particularly in this new age of electronic publishing and the Internet. For various reasons, the courts (like the rest of the government) gets farther from the people with each passing year. Here is an opportunity to reverse that trend, if only in a small way: the availability and usability of court rulings to and by the public. Court opinions are public records, after all. Philip L.
